Foreign Affairs Minister reveals timeline for supplies to reach Tonga

Tonga’s main communication lines remain down after a violent tsunami.

Not being able to have contact with a nearby neighbour is tough, and it’s even more concerning for the families involved.

Minister for International Development and the Pacific Senator Zed Seselja told Ray Hadley that Australia is seeking to deliver humanitarian support to Tonga and restore their communications.

“The restoration of a cable link is needed which is the main form of communication to Tonga.”

It remains unclear whether any Australians were injured in the disaster.
