Quarantine lifted for troops in time for Christmas
Defence personnel who recently returned from the Solomon Islands will be released from quarantine early.
A previous exemption that allowed for direct entry to Queensland without quarantine has been amended to permit personnel transiting through NSW.
It means the returning troops will be allowed to reunite with their families in time for Christmas.
The latest request from the ADF was made on Monday and granted by the state government on Tuesday.
Deputy Premier Steven Miles said in a statement the decision was made in recognition of the Australian Defence Force’s strict COVID-19 protocols and the very low rate of cases in the Solomon Islands.
