Quilpie is more than a 10-hour drive from Brisbane, but plots of land are selling for well above their reserve price. 

Seven blocks of land are under contract and another three will hit the market today.

The town’s Economic Development Officer, Karen Grimm, told Spencer Howson land is attracting a lot of interstate attention.

So what is it about Quilpie?

“I think just looking for that country change and somewhere different to be,” she said.

“There’s about 500 of us in Quilpie, but we’ve got supermarkets, pharmacies, hospitals, fabulous sport, a free swimming pool, … lakes, and wonderful things to get out and do.

“Everything you need is here.”
