Health Matters: The Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry

Knee and hip replacements are two common orthopaedic surgeries we have all heard of. Based on data from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry in 2018, before Covid, there were 65,266 knee replacement surgeries and 49,764 hip replacement surgeries (including primary partial, primary total and revision procedures) reported in Australia.

This data collection comes from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry and is an initiative of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). With more about the Registry and its use is Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Sydney Adventist Hospital – Dr David Hale.
