Fears of ‘absolutely diabolical’ losses if Queensland’s border remains shut

There are fears Queensland’s lagging vaccination rate and hard border will put the sunshine state at risk of losing precious tourism dollars as other states open up.
Flight Centre boss Graham ‘Skroo’ Turner says it could be in the billions if the border remains shut to NSW.
“The whole tourism industry in Queensland, which Queensland relies on significantly … it’s going to be devastating if they can’t get interstate visitors and they can’t get overseas visitors because of Queensland’s border restrictions,” he told Scott Emerson.
“It is going to be absolutely diabolical for them, I really feel for them. They don’t have any choice, they just don’t have anywhere to go.”
