Man dies following light plane crash into remote wetlands
A man has died in a light plane crash near Bribie Island this morning.
It’s believed the plane took off from Caloundra at 7.20am.
Around 9.20am, another pilot in the area noticed the aircraft in trouble and reported it to authorities.
Police arrived a short time later where the aircraft had crashed in the Pumicestone Passage.
The Forensic Crash Unit and Scenes of Crime investigated the crash for the purposes of preparing a report for the Coroner.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) will investigate.
