Brisbane Broncos assistant coach Terry Matterson has reflected on 30 years since the club’s first premiership.

Players will wear retro jerseys this weekend to celebrate the milestone.

He was a member of the 1992 grand final winning team, and said it was “one of the best times of his life”.

“The expectation from day one, we had such great players who played with the club over that initial four years, and I think the reality of it was, they weren’t used to playing in the NRL, and it took us quite a while to get to that stage,” he told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports.

“I think in ’92 we had a great blend of senior guys, middle aged guys and then we had some great rookies as well, if you look at a squad and you want to put a squad together the blend of the squad was just about perfect.”
