20,000 kingfish are on the loose in Port Stephens.

The fish escaped after pens, which were set up in a joint venture between Huon Aquaculture and NSW Department of Primary Industries, where broken following storm damage.

Ross Greenwood speaks with Tackle World Port Stephens boss Brent Hancock.

“It’s been astonishing to say the least, to image 20,000 kingies all at once escaping.

“Anglers locally and also out of town have caught onto these kingies escaping.

“To be honest with you, it’s been fantastic for recreational fishing.”
