New polling has revealed that the Australian public is losing confidence in Anthony Albanese to manage the economy.

Michael McLaren says while the public is waking up to the fact that there is no such thing as a free lunch, he remains sceptical about their determination to rein in spending.

“Every time government tries to deliver a dose of fiscal reality, the affected parties arc up and inevitably engineer a back-down of sorts or so many carve-outs that the spirit of the original proposal is almost completely lost,” he said.

Clearly the mob in Canberra are out of their depth and beholden to the wrong influencers,” he added.
