Queensland’s vaccine rollout: Slow burn to reach 90% double dose rate

Neil Breen

Queenslanders are also being urged to consider using the public holiday to go and get their next COVID-19 vaccine shot.

The state’s double dose vaccination rate is yet to reach 90 percent, despite our borders opening up to international travellers.

91.9 per cent of eligible Queenslanders have received their first dose, 89.2 per cent have had two doses.

Vaccine operations coordinator Shane Chelepy said most state run hubs were open.

“It’s open for all vaccines, first dose, second dose, boosters and including our 5-11-year-olds,” he told Neil Breen.

“There’s two ways to get your vaccine today, you can go and make a booking, either at the vaccine clinic finder, or the health website or all our sites are taking walk-ins, majority of our sites .. are taking walk-ins for our 5-11-year-olds.

“Make Australia Day the day you get vaccinated.”
