‘Extremely disappointing’: Flooded charity store targeted by opportunistic thief
Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll has called out the despicable reports of opportunistic looters breaking into people’s homes and businesses amid the flood crisis.
She said there were three incidents, two businesses and one home in Goodna, Blackstone and Bundamba, that were targeted.
One was a Salvos store, where items and a donation bucket were stolen.
“Disappointing, and probably more than that, just pretty disgusting and quite low really,” she told Scott Emerson.
“We are talking about people who are extraordinarily stressed in such a difficult, stressful situation to come home and find their home had been broken into.”

One of those targeted was The Salvation Army at Bundamba’s church building and family store, where a donation bucket and items were stolen.
The organisation’s Simon Gregory said someone has come through overnight, while volunteers were at the Ipswich Showgrounds helping displaced residents and stolen items from the family store, including a donation bucket.
“Extremely disappointing when we’ve got our volunteers out there trying to help the community and someone has come in and done that.
“Particularly when, if they really needed the support, all they need to do is ask us and we would be able to give them a hand.”
