The Queensland Maritime Museum at South Bank is proud to present again, “Pirates Week” during the September School Holidays. It all happens each day from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 September. The program is for boys and girls aged between 5 to 11 years.Each day commences with the 30 minute “Pirates Pantomime” and supported by the live Buccaneers Band. The Geranium and Pelargonium Society are holding their Annual show at the Auditorium, Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens on the 27th and 28th of September. Nundah's Fresh Farmers Markets are on EVERY Sunday in the Nundah Train station Car Park, tucked just below Nundah Village. There is NO entry fee and we can guarantee the cheapest, freshest produce in the area. The market is mostly made up of fresh Fruit and Vegetable Stalls all sourced from Northern NSW, Stanthorpe and Noosa and all selling a very wide range of produce. The Northey Street Farm Markets are on every Sunday from 6am to 11am. Over 30 stalls of fresh organic fruit and vegetables, all seasonal, plus dairy products, milk, eggs, cheeses, yoghurt, cream and organic coffee, fruit juices, breads, meats, chicken. The uniqueness of these markets is that the produce comes straight from the grower. Northey Street City Farm also runs the Chai Cafe on Sunday mornings with a wide range of delicious breakfast items including organic cakes, muffins, scones and smoothies for children.

The fourth Children’s Week Festival will be on again this year at the Bandstand grounds of Mt. Coot-tha’s Brisbane Botanical Gardens (Toowong). The Festival will be held on Sunday 19 October (10am to 2pm).There will be lots of free hands-on activities, demonstrations and roaming artists such as Knitted Nancy, Bubbles the Fairy, and other wearable art artists such as a Nymph and Ballerina. Also, there will be baby animals to cuddle, balloon sculpture, and face painting/hair decorating by the amazing Wowee face painters.

Onstage performances and events will run throughout the day. The performances include Nickleby the Magician; ‘Dance Masala’ Bollywood dancing; Felicity Kircher a 10-year-old Country and Western singer; and, the Sunnybank Brass 2 conducted by Cathy Reid and accompanied by SmartyPants the Clown. The Children’s Week Festival marks the official opening of QLD’s Children’s Week, which is also celebrated throughout Australia from 18 Oct to 26 Oct, 2014.Entry is free.

The annual Mrs Beaudesert District Dance competition will be held at the Woodhill Hall on Saturday night 18th of October.Old time and new vogue dancing will begin at 8pm, with the judging of finalists from around the district at approximately 9:30pm.
