The National Music Muster

The Australian public has come together to recognise Australia’s largest community organised event by voting The Muster, as the number 1 must do Festival in Queensland.
The National Music Muster, held annually in Amamoor in August, has been acknowledged for its outstanding contributions to Australian tourism, charities and music; by also being voted 8th in a list of 150 of Queensland’s must-do events, festivals and tourist attractions.
'It is an honour to be acknowledged within Queensland’s 150 must-dos, the Muster is a momentous event. Not only attributed to the artists and the contributions of volunteers but also the people that attend, without them the Muster would not be able to donate to charities each year,' Muster Coordinator, Brian Sansom said.
Since its inception, the event has raised over $12m for charities Australia wide and continues to be one of the most iconic events Australia has ever seen, with over 50 community groups and more than 2000 volunteers teaming together to present the hallmark event annually.
'The Muster brings another element to the event scene; it brings people together to support their fellow Australians in need and provides an environment that celebrates what it truly means to be Aussie,' said Apex Chairman Carl Green.
The event focuses on supporting Australian charities, communities and Australian music, each year providing 13 on-site venues for artists; including a Talent Search to spot up-and-coming gifted performers.
Each year the Muster selects an up and coming artist to travel to Canada to perform at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival, in order to provide experience and exposure for the Muster Talent search winner.
Brian said that the Muster is an experience that will not be quickly forgotten, adding that many of the event patrons have been attending for years, some even since it began 28 years ago.
The 2009 Music Muster is on from the 25th to the 30th of August at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park, for more information visit www.muster.com.au or phone (07) 5482 2099.
