4BC Afternoons: A feature film is being released on social network Vine, the NBN is being rolled out to Aspley and HTC are releasing new phones, all in today's tech news with 4BC tech guy Josh Withers on Afternoons with Moyd and Loretta.
There's nothing political about the rollout of the national broadband network in Treasurer Wayne Swan's marginal Brisbane seat, a spokesman for the project says.
Aspley, in Brisbane's north, will become the first part of Brisbane to be switched onto the network on Wednesday.
A spokesman for NBN Co said the rollout of the NBN was not driven by politics or electoral borders.
"It us driven by sound engineering reasons - not least where useable Telstra equipment such as exchanges and their underground pipes - is located," Andrew Sholl said in a statement.
"The NBN is being rolled out to every corner of Australia and electoral borders do not factor in where gets switched on."
Other Brisbane suburbs where construction has already commenced include the surrounding suburbs of Carseldine and Bridgeman Downs as well as Ascot, Banyo, Collingwood Park, Eagle Farm, Goodna, Hamilton, Hendra, Northgate, Nudgee, Redbank Plains and Virginia.
