  • Gary from Springwood I am Gen x and remember compulsory super coming in. Many people (my dad included)did actually try and save for retirement but just not enough to live on fully - all contributions came from individual unless employed by govt or public service or similar. Also I clearly remember as a child my parents just having enough for mortgage etc.....not a lot of mums worked till 80's. Plus not a financial planner on every corner - many people did not understand the complex ways we are advised on today on how to create wealth with our extra funds

  • Am currently working in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Company i work for is contracted to NATO and supply fuel to the WAR, lots and lots of fuel, it is the first time i have ever worked overseas or in a war zone. Yes it is dangerous we get regular rocket attacks but it is my decision to be here.I thought the money would be tax free, we are directly supporting the Australian Army and coalition forces,(National Interest) but have found out recently that new laws bought in by Rudd and labor this is not the case. They expect me to pay tax as if i earnt it in Brisbane. i have been out of the country for 304 days in this financial year with NO tax breaks at all.
i know find out that this government has ousted their so called saviour that has left a trail of destruction and DEBT for all of us including the idiots that voted him in.i have never felt so low about the country i love so much, i hope that all those who voted Rudd in on nothing more than "its time for a change" hang their heads in shame, yes it is your fault, i understand that they will not accept responsibility, as they do not accept it in their own lives this is why they vote the way they do, they want hand outs.
Maybe they will learn a lesson from this disgraceful parliamentary innings, and vote in somone with a proven track record of success, they are not perfect no party ever has been or ever will be, but the one thing they were was a team and loyal to their leader right to the end. Sounds a bit like a true Australian to me. "Wake Up Australia"

  • Who's to blame for the overspending and the over-extending? For years the Howard government reaped the rewards of a boom; they finished their term with a surplus yes but what would they have done differently when the global financial problem hit. I'm curious to hear your thoughts. What else would have kept Australis treading in this kind of economic chaos? Would they still have a $50 billion dollar surplus? Who's to blame and how do you fix it? You seem to think that you have the answers Phillip - so let's hear them.

  • Everything, just everything this man touches turns to poison. Climate change - this man in cohorts with his friend and ally, M/s Penny Wong has managed to alienate and divide a nation, it would appear that, no matter what the cost to the Australian people, this pair of "I am not interested in what others say or think, this is the direction Australia will take
    - and you can like it or lump it!!!"Our opinions poisoned - and we don't give a damn.
Illegal Immigration - Well there is only one opinion here and that is of the looney left of the Labour Party. Couldn't have one of Howards processes be seen to be working could we, would have made him look good, and we couldn't have the Australian People voicing an opinion, and after all, boffins do rule supreme, eh?
So we'll poison that one too! Then theres the one whereby we will allow our Australian economy, the one that was in the black for about $50 Billion (with a B) we'll borrow hundreds of Billions of $AUD from my Chinese Communist Brothers, we'll become indebted to them to the tune of - Na tionally $16,000 per person & on a Queensland State basis, a mere $20,000 per person, that means that each and every (dare I say it) Queenslander is indebted to the Chinese Communist Government to the tune of $36,000 for every man, woman and child.

And yes, forgot, we'll do it all early in the election cycle, that way the apaths will have forgotten our misdemeanours, forgiven us and put us back in. Too smart for them eh????

  • I am curious about why the Baby Boomers complaining about the hard life existing on the tax payers purse didn't show some maturity in taking responsibility for their finances and saving for their retirement.
