Wynnum District Armed Robberies

Wynnum District Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating a string of armed robberies throughout the Wynnum Police District during the past week.

The first incident occurred on August 27 when a man entered a video store on Shore Street at Cleveland perusing the shelves for a DVD before selecting one and approaching the counter. The man then produced a syringe and demanded cash. He fled on foot with an amount of money. At the time he was wearing a blue checked shirt, dark cap and jeans.

On August 29 police began investigations into an armed robbery at a video store on Birkdale Road at Birkdale. Around 8.50pm a man walked into the store, produced a syringe and then threatened the employee. The man demanded money from the employee who complied and then he fled the store on foot.

Last night just before 10pm a man entered a service station on Old Cleveland Road at Carina walked to the drinks fridge before walking behind the store’s counter and the female shop attendant. The man was holding a syringe and demanded money from the cash register. The man got away with an amount of money.

About an hour later a man entered a service station on Redland Bay Road at Capalaba, also going behind the counter demanding money from the store attendant, who complied. The man was last seen running along Redland Bay Road.

In each incident the man has been described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 185-190cms tall with receding short brown hair and aged between 30 and 40-years-old.

Police are investigating a link between these four robberies.
