Armed robbery charges, Townsville: Police have charged two men after the armed robbery of a pharmacy which occurred shortly before 9.25 yesterday morning. It is alleged that the two men were armed with knives and robbed a chemist on Ross River Road at Aitkenvale. Both men, aged 22 and 27, were charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter premises and commit indictable offence and receiving tainted property. Both men are due to face Townsville Magistrates Court today.

Attempted robbery, Mackay: Police are searching for a man after an attempted robbery of a service station in Malcomson Street, North Mackay earlier this morning. Around 2.50am a man approached the shop and tried to gain entry by striking the front doors. The man was unable to get inside and left the station. Nothing was stolen or damaged and there were no injuries. The man appeared to be holding a knife as he tried to break in. He was described as wearing a long sleeved, hooded jumper with a handkerchief tied across his face.
