Armed Robbery, Townsville: Police are investigating an armed robbery of a takeaway shop in Aitkenvale yesterday.  At 5.15pm the man entered the premises on Ross River Road armed with a weapon and demanded money. The offender left with a sum of cash and a black and white handbag. The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged in his early 20s, approximately 175cms tall, of a lean build, clean shaven with a distinct mark on the right side of his face. The man was wearing a dark t-shirt and dark shorts, a dark cap and believed to be carrying a brown duffle bag.

Damage to police vehicle, Broadbeach: Police are appealing for information to assist investigations after a police car was damaged at Pacific Fair shopping centre around 9 last night. The vehicle was left parked and secured in a designated car park near the ground level bus stop. Witnesses reported seeing a man use an unknown red object to smash all four windows and then crack the windscreen. The man was described as being European in appearance, 188cm tall, slim build, black hair and wearing blue jeans and a grey coloured jumper. The man was last seen walking through the car park area towards Sunshine Boulevard. Fatal crash, Rosevale: Police are currently investigating a single vehicle crash on Rosevale Road where a man has died and the female driver was transported to hospital. Around 1.30 this morning a northbound vehicle crossed to the wrong side of the road and crashed. The man believed to be in his 30’s was passenger in the vehicle and was thrown from the car and died at the scene. A 45-year-old Bundamba woman was transported to Ipswich Hospital with minor injuries. Police are still at the scene and investigations will be conducted by Forensic Crash Unit.
