Fatal mountain bike crash, Daisy Hill State Forest: Logan Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal mountain bike crash at the Daisy Hill State Forest on July 11. The 49-year-old man from Banora Point fell from his bike approximately 750 metres from ‘The Five Ways’ on Track 1. Nobody witnessed the incident; however he was located unconscious by other riders. QAS transported the man to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a spinal injury. The man died in hospital yesterday afternoon just before 2pm.

 

Robbery, Hemmant: Police are investigating the robbery of a taxi driver last night on the Hemmant Tingalpa Road, near the Hemmant railway station. The 24-year-old driver picked up a man from the Birkdale taxi rank in Agnes Street around 7.50pm. The man asked to be driven to the Hemmant Train Station. Upon arrival he paid for the fare; as the taxi driver was getting the man change he demanded money from the driver stating that he had a knife. The man fled the taxi with an amount of money. The driver was not injured. He then drove to the Wynnum Police Station to report the incident. The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his mid 20s and was wearing a dark hooded jumper and jeans.

 

Assault charges, Geebung: Three women have been charged, and a girl is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act following the assault of a Geebung woman on July 16 at the Geebung railway station. It will be alleged that the woman was assaulted by the group who were allegedly armed with a knife. The victim allegedly sustained puncture wounds to her back and a laceration to her arm, receiving treatment at the Prince Charlies Hospital. Two 17-year-old women from Wavell Heights and a 17-year-old woman from Bracken Ridge have each been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed in company and are to appear at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on August 2. A 15-year-old girl is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
