Marine Incident, Yeppoon: Yeppoon Water Police are enroute to retrieve 21 people currently onboard a local vessel at Swains Reef, via Yeppoon. At 5.30am AUSSAR received 2 EPIRB activations, quickly identifying that the vessel contained 17 passengers and four crew members who had been tipped in the water after their 22-metre vessel overturned. The weather at the time was 30 knots, north easterly with a strong wind warning. Around 7.20am all 21 people were in a life raft, uninjured. At 8.20am a local vessel has retrieved all 21 people and Yeppoon Water Police vessel Lyle Hoey will pick up the passengers from this vessel around 3pm today, before returning them to Yeppoon around 9pm.
Serious traffic crash, Northgate: A 19-year-old man has been taken to the Royal Brisbane hospital after a serious traffic crash early this morning. Around 3.40 initial investigations suggest the man was riding his motorbike along Nellie Street, Northgate. It is believed he drove through the intersection with Melton Road and into the path of a 4WD. The man was thrown from his bike as a result of the impact and suffered serious injuries. No one else was injured in the incident. Police investigations are continuing.
Charges laid, East Brisbane: Police have charged a 31-year-old Hawthorne woman after receiving calls about break and enters on Latrobe Street. Around 2am police attended two Latrobe Street premises, one had been broken into and another showed attempts to gain entry. Police conducted patrols of the area and located a woman and a stolen vehicle nearby. The woman will be charged with attempted enter with intent, driving unlicensed, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter premises with intent. She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
