Blog comments Your Say

  • Peter The Storm didn't just break the salary cap the
blew it apart. To all those who have continued to say
    that they were harshly and
    unfairly treated by the
    NRL,what say you now.They
win the 2007 Premiership over the cap by $500,000approx.The win the
    2009 Premiership over the cap
    by $1million...and for those
who continue to say that they
    bought players that no
    other club wanted and made
    them into Premiership
    material...they got those
    players by paying them
    money when they were over,
    way over,the cap...Greg
Inglis was set to leave in
2008 until The Storm upper their offer knowing full
    well that they were already
    over the cap,thus preventing
    another club from having
him as a member of their
    team...legally!!
    It makes me sick.They say
    the want to keep the"big
    four"for next season and
    build a team around them.
    How?The salary cap is $4.6
    million.There already over
for next season by $1.3 that
    leaves $3.3.The"big four"
    even at market value add
up to $2.2 that leaves $1.3
that has to cover 21 players
making up the 25 of a roster.
The basic payment for a player is $55,000 but
    not all players will accept
    that...a lot will want
    between $60,000 and $90,000
It doesn't add up no matter
how you slice and dice it.
    And it isn't over yet...
    not by a longshot!!
