They Think We Are Fools
Excuse me while I jump on my soapbox once again.
When are the TV Stations going to treat Brisbane audiences with the respect they deserve? It is disgraceful that just because there is a one hour time difference between us and the Southerners that we have to watch sport on an hour delay.
Here is a list of sporting events that have been live down south but delayed up here –
Super Bowl – Channel 10
Australian Open (night session) – Channel 7
Moonah Classic Golf – Channel 10
2009 opening 4 Nations test – Channel 9
And I’m sure there are a lot more……..
The crazy thing is that the golf and Super Bowl on Channel 10 were live on their ONE HD channel, go figure that one out.
It is quite obvious that these decisions are made by the powers that be in the Southern states who think the country ends at the Tweed! Either we get Daylight Saving (I like that option) or we start demanding more of the TV networks.
I realise that I may be in the minority on this one but for me I enjoy watching sport live. It frustrates me that I can watch European, English and American sport live but when something is on in our own backyard we have to watch it on an hour delay.
Hopefully the situation will change in the not too distant future.
I appreciate your feedback.

I agree.. also we miss out on live national news and late night talkback radio in summer. Its just so backward.. for instance, if sept 11 attacks occoured on jan 11, we, poor old qldrs, watching tv, would not of known about it until 1 hr later! what a joke!

peter - you silly boy - get with the rest of the world & have daylight saving- go & live in Sydney or Melbourne for a couple of years and learn how to be a human being instead of whinging all the time

Oh Peter,don't get me started
on how TV networks,all TV
networks treat their consumers.Yes,I do understand that there are those among us that don't like sport(my children for two)and feel that there is too much sport on TV...but
I love to watch it and, like you,I like to watch it LIVE!!
Of course it's a commercial
decision...if it's on replay
they can fit in the ads and
therefore generate more revenue...but at least admit
that it's not live instead of
trotting out the old"Well it
was LIVE when we recorded it"Cherie Friday 12 February, 2010 - 11:48 AM -
I totally agree with you mate. I'm one of those people who just has to watch it live, it's just not the same on delay - it's already happened and it loses that extra bit of excitement. Yesterday I streamed the NFL live on the internet (whilst at work - don't tell anyone!!) which was fairly easy to do. The picture quality wasn't as good, but at least I got to see it as it happened which made a big difference to me! The other NFL fans in the office had to wait for the Channel 10 coverage (in the boardroom) which dragged on chock full of ads and interuptions from the likes of so called expert Steve Carfino! If you want to check it out - go to http://www.justin.tv/directory/sports#r=nU1WB1U
You might want to keep that under your hat though - not sure if the local stations want us all to know about this.
You can also watch pretty much any other sport that's happening in the world. There's 100's of sport channels and it's all Free. You just need to be patient sometimes as often the channel get's closed by the powers that be, but then you just find another channel that's broadcasting it.
How good were the Reds on Sat night! You gotta love a good Merseyside Derby! I know you're a big fan too. Let's hope we can back it up against Arsenal on Thursday morning and keep the momentum going for a champions league spot.
Happy "Live" viewing mate!
Cheers,

we are fools u goose.if they started these shows/games live they would clash with the news or other well paying (commercials) programmes.we stay with no daylight saving we stay behind.
what could sports lovers possibly do to demand more of
networks?mike caloundra Monday 8 February, 2010 - 7:28 PM
