How dumb are Penrith?

How dumb are Penrith?....But congratulations to them!!!!!!

Congratulations to Penrith on their terrific, tough and gutsy win over Manly in Monday night football. The result capped off a very interesting weekend of football.

Penrith were tremendous last night. They played as a team for the entire 80 minutes. The result shows that there isn’t such a thing as a guaranteed 2 points in the NRL.

Now for the reason why Penrith are dumb!

How could they let Peter Wallace go? Wallace was virtually left without a club before he signed with Brisbane and let me tell you his move to Brisbane wasn’t for the money. He came to Brisbane to cement a spot in 1st grade. He went one better, he earned himself a New South Wales origin jumper.

Wallace has since signed an improved contract at the Broncos and with the likes of Henjak, Langer and Green at the club he isn’t short of ½ back mentors to call upon.

Peter Wallace has been far and away the form player from the opening rounds of the NRL. He gets about his business with minimal fuss. He does a great job on the field in both attack and defence.  The one quality I admire most about Wallace is his timing. He reminds me of some of the great ½ backs in that he knows not only what to do but when to do it.

I only hope he doesn’t play too well in origin this year!!!!!!

Let me know some other examples of when a club regrets letting a player go. I know Parramatta fans will have 100s! But Penrith’s failure to re-sign Peter Wallace would have to be the worst move by a club in a long time.

Now for my awards for Round 3 –

Most relieved coach – Who else but Matty Elliott (Panthers). Well done once again on a great win.

Players of the round – Peter Wallace and Benji Marshall – Both were brilliant in round 3

Time to worry award – Canberra – they could be a very costly 2 points lost on the weekend. It could take them a while to bounce back from a result like that.

Enjoy round 4 and don’t forget Broncos v Dragons live on 4BC from 6pm this Friday night.

  • I always thought Penrith would keep Wallace - especially after he scored a field goal to win the match for the Panthers against the Broncos a couple of years ago! It hurts to watch him wear Blue in the State of Origin.

It will be nice to see the Broncos beat the Dragons on Friday night. We haven't had a good record against St George of late, so it's time to turn that around. Sorry Wayne and Wendal!
