Where is the outcry over this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMIlw7rCScEgypt is destroying its pigs. The pigs are predominantly owned by a small Christian minority. Pigs are ritually unclean animals for Muslims.

Smithy. Anybody who watches this video must be apalled by the shocking way these pigs were treated. Was any compensation paid to the Christian owners of these pigs? I doubt it. It is important to examine issues such as this to get feedback from Muslim people about how they choose to live their lives. If this is the way they choose to live, they should stay in Egypt or any other place, but NOT in Australia!

Michael, it is most unfortunate that your remarks have framed this slaughter as a religious issue. Predictably, it has provoked the usual misinformed, intolerant, anti-Islamic sentiment from several of your bloggers. The issue is complex - it's not as simple as an Islamic government trying to marginalise a Christian minority - there are other issues at play such as urban hygiene, land use and the privatisation of garbage collection.
Perhaps a more thorough analysis is called for, rather than just a few glib comments - after all this action by the Egyptian government was first reported in the Australian media almost three weeks ago, and there has been widespread condemnation from around the world, including from many Egyptians - Muslim and Christian.
At least we can agree on one thing - the slaughter of animals in this way is simply inhumane and should be stopped immediately.bigfella Wednesday 20 May, 2009 - 1:05 AM -
This is an animal rights issue and not a religious issue? Fine. Then let's give these pigs a right to decide which religion they wish to, or wish not to be around.

Lynda, put a mirror at the end of your bed and wake up to yourself. This is an animal rights issue BECAUSE the Muslims are slaughtering these animals in a shocking and horrific manner. Why are you trying to excuse them?

It seems Danielle is in denial, she cannot bring herself to call a spade a spade on the off chance she might be right!
Its good to have open debate even if one side is in the wrong. You keep going young Michael, just keep yourself out of the courts!

I can't bring myself to watch this, but I have a feeling I know what is in it. I remember seeing a show on 60 minutes a few years ago and they showed Muslims shoving sheep in to the boot of cars. It was horrible and I've never been able to eat lamb since.
