Terror from the Sea
Shark Bay is a beautiful spot. link
It's a tourist drawcard - about 1,000 people live there but tens of thousands visit to see the dolphins of Monkey Mia and the other attractions. It's mainland Australia's most westerly point, halfway up the WA coast and about 800 kilometres from Perth.
Last Thursday much of the world's attention was focussed on a group of Islamist terrorists who landed at Mumbai on small boats. They entered India by sea to kill and to terrorise. And they succeeded on all fronts.
Well on the same day that those Islamist terrorists sailed into Mumbai a boatload of Sri Lankan men sailed right into Shark Bay. Halfway down the WA coast. Our authorities knew nothing about it. There were 12 men on the boat - two of them swam ashore fully clothed - link
It took a group of Aussie campers, 7 mates in their 50s and 60s to alert anyone in authority.
These Sri Lankans say they're refugees - but they could have been anyone. They could have been Pakistanis, or Islamist fanatics from Indonesia - the world's largest archipelagic nation where going to sea in boats is second nature.
Our government is sending a very clear message to the people smuggling industry based in Indonesia. Australia is open again for people smugglers. But that message is also heard by terrorists. A small group of determined terrorists brought carnage to Mumbai - on the same day an unauthorised boat full of middle-eastern illegal entrants makes landfall halfway down Australia's west coast. They were a day's drive from Perth.
How fair dinkum is our government about border security? We are sending a clear message to people smugglers and that message is being heard by terrorists as well.
The bleeding hearts in Australia will accuse me of scare-mongering. I'd say this to them. There were more than 150 people in Mumbai last Thursday who stared down the barrel of AK47s. Or heard the clink of a fragmentation grenade's safety lever on a tile floor followed by the clang of the iron body of a grenade - then blackness. How many of those 150 people would wish there was a bit more focus on the what-ifs?
We need to harden up. We need a few more hard heads in the Federal Government. A lot more tough language. Right now, before tragedy visits us from the sea.Blog comments

I agree with Michael Smith. If the "Snivel libetarians" and "BLEEDING HEARTS" have their way it will be open season for anyone to come to our great country and the problem with that is, eventually some of these people who come here will have links to terror organisations.
