  • @ Ross Bowles. Ross how right you are, spot on. A bunch of double standard bastards. As you say, these very same parents complaining about an assignment, yet they allow their children to hide behind closed doors letting them believe that they are studying, but nay, play this bloody desensitizing crap called video games. Is it any wonder that we have Gen. X and Y kids who show absolutely no respect for their parents or authority. Buy they will never be banned, a good way to make a quick buck and too keep the kids quiet whilst the parents sit by and watch T.V. with a bottle of plonk at the ready. Ban them I say!!!!Lets start to re humanize our kids!!!!

  • Right on Ross!

At the same time though, people in the intelligence community must do this sort of assessment every day because it is fundamental to our safety. Does this mean it's an appropriate topic of assessment for school aged children? Well, probably not. I'm not sure we can categorise it as being evil though.

  • I can't believe the ridiculous double standards we set in our community sometimes. One idiotic teacher offers up a ridiculous piece of assessment for at most 20-30 students and it makes every news bulletin in the country. Meanwhile, we stand by and allow companies and retailers to peddle horrifying computer games - where they can engage in car theft, cop-killing, terrorism, crimes against women and children and endless other atrocities. Anyone with even a passing interest is free to indulge themselves with this form of "entertainment".
While some parents are busy complaining about this teacher, their kids will be in the adjoining room "entertaining" themselves with a game or DVD overflowing with violence and antisocial behaviour.
Endless criticism of a teacher showing poor judgement in a class assignment seems rather hollow - when we set such a low level of commitment to upholding community values in the games our children play and movies they watch.
