Rudd's Free Cash

pays

One of my listeners sent me this quote which has been attributed to the late Dr Adrian Rogers.

"What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them;

and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for;

that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

I think that just about says it all.

  • Someone once said,
    "All we are asking is,
    give peace a chance."
    All I am asking is give the opposition a chance to study the options. Every Australian's future is dependant on this.

  • Very true, Smithy! I would add to your comment, Eric, that we aren't in a Capitalist society - we are around the middle of the Socialist/Capitalist scale, slightly right.

  • The comments are accurate, and it is up to KRudd to modify his demands - he is not God and neither is he our Dictator/Ruler.
    We see now that the $42 billion give-away has many faults and omissions, so let those who do know what they are doing get on with the job, and the KRudd's "Get out of my way" demand is totally stupid and useless.

  • Honestly the bonus would benefit me greatly,but I stop & look at the big picture.My partner & I pay a large portion of income tax weekly-however unable to have children we weren't one of the lucky ones to get extra cash for the festive season,but I am still against this bonus.
    If the poll does fall on Malcolm Turnball,well my fellow Australians are greedier than I thought.

  • I don't mind the needy getting a cash kick along. That makes sense, however the majority of the cash under Rudds plan is going to housholds that have joint incomes up to $200,000 per year.

    Those billions would be far better off directed to real nation building infrastructure projects such as ports, rail, roads and broadband that will support increased competitveness in the long term.

    We should be using the money to build our modern day Snowy river schemes. as president Obabma would say "infrastructure we can believe in".

    And while most of North Queensland is underwater yet again - why arent we building hydro electric dams where the rain actually falls. Zero carbon emissions from hydro but lots of power and lots of construction jobs.

    C'mon Smithy - yes we can!
