Yasmin Khan, the President of Eidfest, talks to Michael Smith about the upcoming Muslim festival which is being held on the anniversary of September 11th. Whilst it is a coincidence, some people think the date should be treated with more sensitivity - have your say.

Its interesting how everyone's an instant expert on Islam and how they're going to destroy us - not long ago it was the Asians. Just gotta have someone to hate I guess.
For the record, no Muslims asked for a dress code at the swimming pool event - it was some over zealous councillor that made the call. I'm still waiting to see how Muslims are making any demands that even remotely affect me as a normal everyday Aussie. Now there's a challenge...steve Monday 20 September, 2010 - 3:58 PM -
Very well said Bella.
We have reached a point here in this country now, where Political Correctness and tolerance, have put us in great jeopardy from the scourge of the cult of Islam.
There is no such thing as a "moderate" muslim. When the imam rings the little bell, they all jump.
The definition of Political Correctness may be of assistance to Z.A.
"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional minority, and the mainstream media,
that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end"
And there is the root cause of our problem.Wobblyone Friday 17 September, 2010 - 10:36 AM -
Islam is not a religion. It's a political ideology competing directly with Australian Democracy and our cultural rights, so do not see it as a religion that is part of the deception. Do not fall for the continual clutter of how they are hard done by and that this is racist it is not about race that is the furphy they pull on, this is just about a political cult and all of this is part of the stealth and the divisive stradegy that has been employed in Europe, Briton, USA and on and on it goes.

Bella, First of all, the topic of this discussion was not about radical Muslims, so, you didn't have the chance to know my views on this issue, please don't judge me on this till then. I have lost family members, relatives and friends due to the act of the terrorists (Radical Muslims).
As for the issue of supporting the Aussie troops, I'm 100% behind the diggers, regardless of whether or not their deployment was justified, (that is another issue to discuss, "Political decision").
You will not see or hear ordinary Muslims' views, because their voice are not heard in the media, it will be a boring story for the media, but when few Radical Muslims say something it will be all over the place and some people will thrive on it, I would blame the media not Muslims who stands against terrorists that their voice have been chosen not to be heard.
I wish the government takes more appropriate action against any radical imams who don't support the troops, my suggestion is to deport them. I and ordinary Muslims have no power or authority against those radical imams.
And yes, Tolerance is a TWO-WAY-STREET!Z.A Thursday 16 September, 2010 - 3:45 PM -
@ z, are you alright? what was that drivel all about? oooh my god, what an ignorant.

@ ZA and Taufan, being able to distinguish between CIVILIAN and RADICAL Muslims does not abrogate your responsibility as a Muslim from these atrocities if you do not speak out against the so called RADICAL Muslims; just as the Germans who did not speak out against the Holocaust can deny their responsibility.
Same goes for us Australians or any other human being on the face of this planet, we can not deny responsibility for the homeless the downtrodden and the poor if we do not attempt to eradicate such blights in our world village, or that of our neighbourhood.
For as long as the Muslim community continues to protect and defend the Imams in your midst who seek to inflame hatred towards our defence forces then you are yourself a RADICAL MUSLIM.
When I see ordinary CIVILIAN MUSLIMS rejecting these RADICAL Imams and their preaching, then I will accept the premise that Muslims wish only to live in peace in this country. Rejecting means to return them from whence they came; or if home grown, give them no succour or hearing, let alone elevate them to the position of Imam.
Tolerance is a TWO-WAY-STREET.
As for 1 of 3 Americans believing 9/11 was a conspiracy, 1 out of 3 Americans do not believe anything their government says.
It is my opinion that they are the most cynical people when it comes to government.
They are also the most god fearing, family orientated, law abiding patriotic people I have had the pleasure to live amongst; save for the Canadians and British.
