Queensland Education Spin

School Suspensions

We are kidding ourselves about violence in our community, particularly our schools.

Queensland's Education Department has released figures that should shock every mum and dad to the core.

The Courier Mail newspaper reports that we are averaging 80 suspensions per week for violence with a weapon.

We are kidding ourselves about violence in our community, particularly our schools.

Queensland's Education Department has released figures that should shock every mum and dad to the core.

The Courier Mail newspaper reports that we are averaging 80 suspensions per week for violence with a weapon.

Courier Mail article

There have been 10,000 suspensions of state school students over the past three years for violence with weapons.

Only the education department's figures don’t use those words. They’ve spin-doctored the reports

Violence with a weapon has become 'physical misconduct involving an object'.

Keep in mind that we are talking about serious stuff here - serious enough to warrant suspension from school.

A weapon sounds much less nasty when you call it an object.

The dictionary definition of a weapon is "an instrument or device of any kind used to injure or kill, as in fighting or hunting".

The education department's deputy director-general Lyn McKenzie says the 'objects' used in the attacks include knives, replica guns, stick and pencils.

As a young constable I sat in the dock with the prisoners accused of Melbourne's Russell Street Bombings. They complained to the Magistrates that we police had denied them pens and pencils because of our concerns that they’d use them as weapons. We gave them crayons. I will never forget Peter Michael Reed who said to his co-accused Craig Minogue in a voice intended to unsettle me "with a pen I could get straight through that coppers eye into his brain."

There were 2,797 suspensions for violence involving a weapon in Queensland state schools last year.

Are you shocked? I am. Our culture is seriously sick.

  • What more do you want from this pathetic little man. Surely you can't believe the crap coming from his mouth. A $50 billion (thats with a "B") Education Package in the form of a National Curriculum - but its not till after the band played 'Walzing Matilda' did we learn that the States would be paying for it in the form of a transfer of 40% of our GST back to the Commonwealth. This will either lead to an increase in GST or State Taxes to pay for this little pipe dream of KRUDDS (Let that read the Labour Party); and it won't come into force till about 2012-13 - oops - wouldn't be a porkie would it? Then theres the Broadband Rollout, or should that read Rollover - at a cost of $40bn - more Porky Pies in the Sky!!!Then theres ad infiniti infinitum, rollouts or overs of more pies in the skies
Surely you people out there must realize that this little liar is only telling you what you want to hear. The old Peter Beattie ruse; and we have an election coming up at the end of this year, plenty of time for the Labour Party and a compliant Press to convince the Australian People, that Rudd is the saviour of our Nation. Comrades, we can't afford them, our kids can't afford them, our grandkids can't; the resultant mess left by this economic spendthrift, this liar, cheat and thief, will be felt by this nation for generations to come. And this time the bands not playing Walzing Matilda - it'll be playing something like "Woe is me and woe is you, me and you and our families".

  • Some of these little barbarians have been let loose on our society from parents who have no control over them and call the police around to try to sort them out. Some of the parents themselves are barbarians. Teachers have no power to deal with them because they can get sued or complained about for interveening. If they make waves for their masters in the education department they will be blackbanned from ever teaching in qld again. These barbarians grow into big ones and end up hurting and doing as they please to one and all. It is beginning to boil down to every man for himself. In other words if you don't protect yourself no one else will with the emergency services stretched to breaking point. Don't believe me read the daily newspapers.

  • On the weekend , I heard Kevin Rudd making a speech about the home insulation debarcle.
    Opening words
"No sense in sugar coating the facts here"
By his own admission he is a spin doctor.
So I ask Mr Rudd , that at the next election could I have a cup of real promises. (No sugar thanks).

  • Our Culture is not just seriously sick Michael, it has virtually passed away and it's all the Snivel Libitarians and extreme lefty do-gooders out there who are to blame. Add that to a left wing labor government who are more interested in spin than substance and you have all the right ingredients for disaster.
