Nauru

Is Nauru the solution to the Australian government asylum-seeker policy? Michael Smith talks with President Marcus Stephen, Republic of Nauru, about the current state of the island and the centre already currently built there.

  • Australia is under no international obligation to take ANY immigrants.
I have changed my mind since my last blog, now I beleive BOTH doors should be shut.
If we continue to take on migrants at the current rate.
The population of Australia will be 42 Million by 2050.
I would like the figures on the number of refugees that have become USEFUL citizens of this country and the numbers that are just centrelink seekers.

Yet around here there are so many Indians and blacks who seem to be hanging around all day...go figure!!! Lynda

  • My son-in-law had a mate who was a security guard on Nahru and he told us that many of the refugees had huge rolls of American dollars in their pockets, the most expensive watches, mobile phones and sunglasses. And, at that time there were these poor fools over here fundraising to send the "refugees" computers and cameras etc. What a crock. It is another scam being used to rip us off. we want strong Government. We only want real refugees, not economic slick scammers. No identity papers, send them back. If they can afford to pay smugglers, they are not real refugees. Real refugees have nothing.

  • If they use East Timor all that will happen is smugglers will send them straight to Timor where they will be rescued and pampered there.

They no longer have to risk a long journey to Ashmore Reef to get Australian hospitality.

East Timor would be the worst place.

Nauru is in the middle of nowhere and perfect. The buildings have been stress tested by the big high school students there.
