"Most complicated mining tax regime"
Michael Smith garners the Shadow Treasurer, Joe Hockey's feedback on the mining tax announcement earlier today. Joe attempts to decipher what seems to be a very confusing tax scheme, and for him it comes down to the bottom line.

Tony, i'd be worried, there has been a blurring of the lines between where the government ends and the unions begin. If we have a clear seperation of powers and influence from external organisations such as religions then why can't we have the same in regard to the unions?
We don't elect union officials so why should they have any influence on any party that we the people elect to represent us as a whole?
The system needs serious change, we need not only politcal reform but true democratic constitutional reform.

Every time I look at the papers or TV news why do I see the same agitators who were most vocal in the Union struggles 5 or 10 years ago now lauding the policies of the current governments. It seems they have moved from the Trades Hall into Parliament House. And, what formal qualifications do these people have to enable them to effectively run the largest business in Australia, namely the Country itself? I wonder what is in store for my grandchildren

How can anyone believe or trust these bastards who call themselves Members of Parliament. I heard on your programme this afternoon that the previous Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, has just about had the problems with the new Mining Tax sorted out. Problematical it may be but this new bucket of swill under the leadership of M/s Julia Gillard, the one who only a week previous had committed herself to full and total support for Kevin Rudd. A week on and the red headed one had changed her mind after counselling by Shorten, Habib and others and put herself up for a secret ballot controlled by the Unions and backbench M's P. Surrepticiously they stole democracy from the Australian Electorate. I am livid about this. For Gods sake fellow bloggers read between the lines. Gillard is nothing but a Union Hack, so too Swann, and all those who put her into the highest office in the land. Its the Unions who control this Country now, is that what you really want? Bring on the election so we can get rid of them and please, oh please don't be conned. As the 'bigbrownbear' says, "Same Pile of Crap, just different flies." And Geez are they on the nose.
As I said, Rudd had already sorted this Tax out, and Gillard has stolen the glory. So why was it so important to get rid of him, and so urgently.Phil of Springwood Friday 2 July, 2010 - 4:50 PM
