Keeping Australia strong

Mike Pezzullo

Kevin Rudd is far too close to China.

Our defence policy is set out in a White Paper. For some time now our leading defence strategists have been putting together the White Paper that will assess the potential threats we might face, including the rise of China. The White Paper then sets out how we’ll deal with those threats - what fighter planes we’ll buy, how big our forces will be and how much money we’ll make available for our defence.

Mike Pezzullo is the lead author of the defence White Paper. By all accounts he’s a feisty and capable bureaucrat. I think Australians have good reason to be confident in his abilities to put together a coherent strategic document - but I don’t yet know what’s in the White Paper.

You don’t know what’s in the White Paper. Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition in Australia doesn’t know what’s in the White Paper. There’s been no informed media commentary or critical analysis about what’s in the White Paper. And remember that the White Paper canvasses the critical risks that our country will face over the next few years - years that will be characterised by the rise of communist China as the regional power.

Kevin Rudd’s government has directed the White Paper author, Mike Pezzullo, to go to Beijing and brief the communist party Chinese government on the contents of our White Paper. He has been directed to give a briefing to Beijing on our plans for military modernisation, including the details of our fighter plane purchases and plans to increase our submarine fleet.

When news of this started to leak out yesterday, the Prime Minister defended his government’s decision. The primary aim of Mr Pezzullo’s visit was to convince Beijing that Australia’s military build-up poses no threat to China.

The White Paper will be released publicly some time in the next few days. It’s expected to include plans to build 12 submarines and 100 new joint strike fighter planes. And China has been briefed before you and me.

Can you imagine China secretly briefing us on their plans? Kevin, could you please start to put Australia and Australians’ interests a bit higher up in your priority list?

Blog comments Your Say

  • All Austrlians need to wake up as it nearly too late.
Do not allow foreign ownership of any Australian land, property or business, only allow limited percentage (30%) of investment within a company only.
Do not give citizenship only temporary residency and then if that person commits or is charged with any criminal conviction, they should be deported immediately with a NOT TO RETURN stamp on their visa.
China may be buying our resources but Rudd is far to supportive of SE Asia and China in particular and I as a taxpayer am sick of this government squandering our resources, and tax dollars an not giving a damn about keeping this country Australian and now jepordising the mining industry by wanting to impose a mining Super Tax. Rudd and his Spend thrift party welcome with open arms the 'refugees' but has no BA**S' to get our navy to turn every boat around and refuse ALL attempted entries, they will get the message sooner or later.
    VOTE LABOUR OUT AUSTRALIA
As the saying should be Kevin 07 gone in 11!

  • I get the impression that the Print and Television Media are trying with all their might to make KRUDD out to be some sort of hero and are worried what the putting off of Pennys' Emission Control Bill will cost the Australian Taxpayer Money!!!!The Labour Partys' spin machine is at it again,
THEY had no choice. Enactment of this Legislation would have failed, KRUDD would have looked a fool, not that he doesn't already; the Australian Taxpayer is the real winner in this one folks. But don't you worry, the economic gurus out there are still trying to work out a method of taxing 'THE VERY AIR WE BREATHE".

  • Whoa everone, lets all stand back and take a deep breath; My jaw dropped this morning when I read in one of your blogs "Smithy" that 22,000 Queenslanders, did you hear that Beattie and Bligh, 22,000 QU-E-E-NSLANDERS!!!have or are about to have, their electricity disconnected because they cannot afford to pay their accounts. Bligh
you were the Treasurer and Beattie, the oracle - the mouth who conned the electorate into believing that we had to sell the "retail section" of Energex. But you dirty pair of mongrels didn't tell us what this entailed. You didn't inform your voters that what was going to happen was that we, the owners of Energex were to be conned out of ownership of the sale of electricity to the people. I ask, what have we got to show for the billions we got for this sale? Well WHAT HAVE we got?
I'm waiting, listening and its oh so quiet out there. Sorry I forgot, we do have a helluva lot of highly paid Labour Party Hacks, collecting huge salaries - Jobs for the Boys, but then Pete, you'd know all about that eh. Oh and Anna, you're not off the hook, your beloved parasitic hussband is on the bandwagon too eh. I spit on the both of you.

  • Hmm to all those people ranting about big bad China... How do you think they grew the economy to create an armed force powerful enough to threaten the region? Perhaps you should ask Michael and all his big business cronies importing slave produced Chinese goods at monstrous profits. Not so anti communist then when you can make a buck?? Those are the real sell outs, they wont need to invade us they will just wait until they own everything.

  • Time - 7.33am - 02.05.09. Just heard the 4BC News, and Michael I can read this traitor like a book. KRUDD has now decided that he had better to release the contents of our "White Paper". The thinking of the AustralianLabourParty will be 'I'm in a bit of strife here I better let my fellow Countrymen, the ones I was elected by to represent know of the contents of these Secret Documents.

Michael, I've said it before and will probably say it again, this man and those close to him, the Swans, Gillards, Wongs, his senior Cabinet Colleagues, are a threat to our Country. They are nought but a cowardly traitorous mob and should never, ever be trusted.
I ask the question, why has not the Governor General stood up for the Australian people, as is her want and duty. But then the answser is obvious, she was appointed by KRUDD and I have no doubt in my mind that she, together with the rest of them, were all associates in the good old glory days of Communist sympathizers at U.Q. It would be mind blowing if you could get a former Member of the Queensland Police Forces' Special Branch (this was de-activated by the Goss Government in the 70's - 80's) to shed some light on their activities. Like thieves in the night they came, planned, executed and screwed the Australian People, and he and his Cheesy Wife, eat $100 a kg. Rocquefort? at our expense, whilst we eat cake!!!!What scum, what swill they are. I love my SUN BURNT COUNTRY -BUT I FEAR WHERE THIS CUR IS TAKING US, BUT THE ANSWER MY FRIEND IS BLOWING IN THE WIND?

  • Incredible as it may seem, we obviously have as out Prime Minister a secret by=ut active member of the Chinese Communist party - probably one at the second-highest level. Once he has succeeded innhanding our country over to them, he will doubtless be promoted to top level - and might even take Wayne Swan and Julia Gillard with him.
How do you feel now, all you idiots who voted him in to office ?
