Health in a Spin

Posted by: Michael Smith | 25 February, 2009 - 10:51 AM

Well yesterday I spoke with the Premier who told me that the person who wrote the Queensland Health emails had been stood down.   She also said that the Health Minister had her full confidence.

Well I think she’s wrong to support Stephen Robertson.   I think the culture that created the attitudes that you see in these emails comes from him.   I’ve attached a few more examples of the sorts of emails I’m talking about.

Download here- email 1 - email 2 - email 3 - email 4 - email 5 - email 6

When this story broke, Stephen Robertson spoke on ABC radio in defence of the now stood-down PR person who authored the emails.   I’ve now spoken with several health insiders who say that the culture of spin has never been worse than it is now under Stephen Robertson.

It’s interesting that the Premier yesterday declined to confirm that Robertson would be the health minister if she was re-elected.

Should he go or shouldn’t he?   Over to you.

  • I agree with "Bruce". What people are osting on here and what 4BC has are just the tip of the iceberg.

If people actually saw and heard and read what went on inside Queensland Health, they would be uttlerly disturbed.

Corruption, secrecy, lies and cover ups are nothing. Trust me, I know from intimate inside knowledge.

  • i have just been discharged from the Holy Spirit hospital after having my appendix removed on Wednesday evening. i have had 2 very conflicting experiences while in the hospital. let me first say that i was treated with the utmost respect from the Surgeon and the anethisetist (not sure of the spelling) and from 2 very good nurses on night shift. however i cannot believe the rudeness and the arrogance and disrespect i was shown by all the other nursing staff. i have had experience in working in hospitals and i realise that it is a tough job, however if you don't like being there you shouldn't be. most of the time i felt like i was putting the nurses out by requesting pain relief and asking if they knew when i was scheduled to be operated on and if there was even a bed available in the wards. i understand also that a lot of things are out of the nurses control but they should be able to show compassion and maybe have smile on their face, especially when someone is tired, confused and in a lot of pain. i cannot remember when i was last this disappointed in the human race.

  • I work for health and you are only scratching the surface I would have thought that you and the media would have been told that Roxanne Ramsey and several other high profile people were shown the door about three weeks ago this is because of a reshuffle of districts where they had to apply for there own jobs and failed
