ETS Police

Don’t think you’re out of the woods with the crazies in Canberra who want to lumber you with their Emissions Trading Scheme.

The US won’t have one.

China won’t have one.

India won’t have one.

But Australia’s leader Mr Rudd is still trying to foist an Emissions Trading Scheme onto you.

Here is an extract for the actual bill before the Australian parliament.   And remember, there are just a few votes in the senate between you and the ETS.

The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bill 2009 gives awesome powers to “inspectors”.   They’ll have badges and unbelievable powers to enter premises.   Here’s what the act says they can do.

309   Monitoring powers of inspectors

             (1)  The following are the monitoring powers that an inspector may exercise in relation to premises under section 308:

                     (a)  the power to search the premises and any thing on the premises;

                     (b)  the power to examine any activity conducted on the premises;

                     (c)  the power to inspect, examine, take measurements of or conduct tests on any thing on the premises;

                     (d)  the power to make any still or moving image or any recording of the premises or any thing on the premises;

                     (e)  the power to inspect any document on the premises;

                      (f)  the power to take extracts from, or make copies of, any such document;

  1. (g)     the power to take onto the premises such equipment and materials as the inspector requires for the purpose of exercising powers in relation to the premises;

Still not worried about the ETS?   Do you want your life further regulated by bureaucrats?

We should heed the warnings of respected figures like the Honourable Ian Callinan AC QC, High Court Justice from 1998 to 2007, who said:

“Emissions regulation offers government an irresistible opportunity to centralize and control every aspect of our lives; on our roads, on our travels, in our workplaces, on our farms, in our forests and our mines, and, more threateningly, in our homes, constructed as they will be compelled to be, of very specific materials and of prescribed sizes. It is not difficult to foresee a diktat as to how many lights we may turn on and when we must turn them off: the great curfew. The new regime has the capacity to make the wartime National Security Regulations look like a timid exercise of government restraint.”

Senator Sue Boyce would appreciate your call.   Her number is  (02) 6277 3188
