Derryn Hinch

Derryn Hinch

You all know I had a bit of a blue on air with Derryn Hinch last week.

Well the day after - last Thursday - he published a blog entitled 'Exposing Michael Smith'. link

For 3 days now I've tried to have a conversation with him.   His blog is just plain wrong and I wanted to sort it out with him man to man.

I spoke with him briefly on Monday - he said he didn't have time and he'd call me back - he didn't.

Same again yesterday - he didn't call back.

I've left messages. I've sent him an email - with no answer.

I've just spoken with Derryn for 30 seconds right now, he said 'we've just elected a new United States President, I've got editorials to write and I don't have time to talk'.

Well it might not be important to you but it is important to me - so,

Dear Derryn,

You've called me a liar, said my actions are offensive, called me a moronic red-neck and wondered what I'd learned about talk-radio.

Thanks for the advice in your blog.

'My advice to the new boy on the block is simple: If you think you are right stick to your view. If you are wrong, then apologise. But don't say something in print and then, when you get in hot water, lie to me on air. Now, that's offensive."

The day before you wrote and published this on your blog:

'Actually, I've met Mr Smith. He sat in on this program to see how it's done. What did he learn? Actually, I don't think he was anti-Muslim. Just a moronic red-neck.'

Well Derryn I did learn a bit.

It's important to check your facts.

It's unfair to take people out of context or to quote them selectively.

And I learned that everyone's got a use-by date.

Michael
