David Flint

Professor David Flint, Former Head of Australian Media Authority, talks to Michael Smith about the recent article he wrote discussing media bias and the upcoming Federal Election. Listen now.

  • David Flint is right, the media is biased and I do NOT believe the polls. I have my own opinion and donÃ?¢Ã?Â?Ã?Â?t believe people change their minds as quickly about a party they have lost faith in, simply because there is a different person at the helm, as some would have us believe. I could not get any media coverage on my political protest from my state and community newspapers, except for the Jimboomba Times.

Labor continues to pretend we do NOT even exist, while the opposition is equally silent! Its a shame Queenslands only newspaper and many so called community? newspapers are owned by Labors strongest and biggest supporter, the Murdoch press.

Government has allowed media diversity to be killed off. And the people and democracy suffer as a result of this lack of competition and lack of press freedom. The mainstream media is government controlled and that includes the highly politicised ABC, which is definitely NOT acting in the national interest.

Some affectionately talk about aunty-ABC, but there is nothing endearing about a politicised public broadcasting station in my book. The conservative ABC is not a PBS anymore. I is a RBS (regime broadcasting station), which acts in the best interests of the political elite and not the peoples best interest.

And that is why the ABC does not report issues like my 23 day long protest outside the Speakers electorate office, my judicial corruption allegations and other important issues, e.g. Peter Spencers lengthy hunger strike.

What is the Australian Media Authority going to do about these issues?
