Assault, Sunshine Beach

Police are seeking public assistance to help identify a man who assaulted a girl on her way to school last Wednesday.

The 14-year-old was walking down Girraween Court Sunshine Beach around 8.10am on March 10, when a man emerged from a track that runs along side the tennis courts and approached her.

The man spoke to the girl as she continued walking. He then grabbed her on the forearm at which time she struck his hand several times forcing him to loose his grip.

The man then grabbed her from behind forcing her to the ground.

A small white car driving past appears to have startled the man and he fled.

He was last seen running back towards the track near the tennis court.

The man is described as Caucasian, 175 - 180cms tall with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes; he also had a missing upper tooth.

The girl was not injured as a result of the incident.
