Another $11m we’ve borrowed to give to Africa
The Australian Government is giving $11 million to Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya.
Our Foreign Minister Stephen Smith stressed the importance of humanitarian aid as a part of Australia's commitment to engage more deeply with African nations.
"Our attitude is we are a well-developed, prosperous country," he said.
"We can lend a helping hand in terrible and difficult circumstances.
"Whilst our engagement with Africa is very important strategically and economically, we also know that there are difficult parts of Africa who do need the assistance of the international community, and Australia's playing its part in this respect."
I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve announced new money for African countries. Mr Rudd is determined to secure the votes of African nations in support of his attempt to get Australia elected to the United Nations Security Council.
What’s another $11 million?

Someone should inform Mr Smith that we WERE a prosperous country until his
boss took over the helm.
Queensland NSW and VIC were also prosperous states until Labor gained power there.
I think that it says it all that OUR PENSIONERS could die because they can't pay their power bills increases but hey can Rudd and cronies find money for them NOT A BLOODY CHANCE !!
