The Big O, oh how we miss you
What do Elvis, Michael Jackson, the Rolling Stones, even the Beatles have in common?
Well aside from being music legends they do have the ability to turn some people off.
Not everyone is into “Jailhouse Rock”, “Satisfaction” or “Thriller”.
One man however who I think everyone enjoys listening too is Roy Orbison.
Have a closer listen to his music, what a voice, what a talent.
He was just so easy to listen wasn’t he?
Orbison was a fascinating character, extremely shy he suffered from terrible stage fright.
And his life off stage was tragic to say the least.
He witnessed his wife Claudette’s death in a motorcycle accident and two of his sons died in a house fire.
Through it all he was a quiet, polite and humble star who brightened people’s lives with a string of hits including “Only the Lonely”, “Oh, Pretty Woman” and “Mystery Girl”.
We lost the Big “O” on December 6, 1988.
This Sunday night we mark that anniversary with a special tribute to Roy Orbison on 4BC.
I hope you can join me.
