Cabbies, can't live without them?
Every day and night of the week dozens of men and women perform a duty that is completely taken for granted.
Just have a think about the life of a Brisbane taxi driver.
They work very long and very difficult hours.
They are forced to deal with drunk and aggressive passengers, traffic and road rage, even people skipping off without paying their fare.
The list goes on and on and I don’t envy them for a minute.
But you know what 95% of the taxi drivers I have met are happy souls that just want to earn a living.
There are cowboys out there, but there are these types in every industry.
Cabbies also provide a great community service...counselling on the go.
For some reason people really open up to taxi drivers.
They share their feelings and frustrations and often end up getting out of the taxi feeling a whole lot better than when they got in.
If I was the Premier or the Prime Minister I would travel by taxi, it’s a great way of gauging the thoughts of average Australians.
So thank you Brisbane cabbies.
I for one really appreciate the job that you do.
