Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan joins Greg Cary talking about new forecasts of the governments projected budget position that my cause the reserve bank to lift interest rates. The opposition has labelled the forecasts as “dodgy. The treasurer goes onto talk about other government policies including the mining tax and immigration.  Mr Swan also adds, he has not spoken to former PM Rudd, since the spill.  Listen and comment now.

  • Wayne Swan could not even handle to electorate of Lilly in north Brisbane - so how is it that someone whose only qualfication if a BOA degree can be our treasurer - he is a dud and he was the right hand man of a dud and he is now the somewhat extremely dubious offsider of another dud - wake up to Labour they will bury us if you let them in again. Look at the facts and their record of achievements and the damage they have done.

  • I have just read the Proof committee Hansard - SENATE SELECT COMMITTEE ON FUEL AND ENERGY. Page 36 to 45 very interesting reading. Ken Henry has until 5pm Friday to answer the question put to him. It will be interesting if Swan will let him answer them as to date, Swan has stopped him from answering one simple question. What are the commodity price assumptions used.

  • There is one simple way to find out if the budget figures are true and that is for Swan and Gillard to release the assumptions and calculations for the RSPT and the MRRT. Martin Ferguson admitted that the commodity price assumptions use in the MRRT dramatically increased. If the assumptions used in the RSPT first used to produce the $12 Billion tax were right and he has manipulated the commodity price forecast to make the MRRT to work, we could be looking at a massive deficit. Or worse we could see BHP and RIO paying less tax under the MRRT then they did last year. From what was released yesterday Swan and Gillard are expecting China to grow faster in the next the next 2 years then they did from 2004 to 2007. Why won't Swan and Gillard release the assumptions used to calculate the two taxes?!
