I dont understand why the state government wants to decentralise the state. Look at New York City and how many people live on Manhattan. Just have a read of the wikipedia entry. 85% of Manhattenites dont own a car. But its because they spent money on city infrastructure. I think thats the thing missing. Somehow the govt wants to solve population issues by not spending money on infrastructure in existing urban areas. Instead they want to sprawl people out to areas that have no services not even one that can be upgraded. In the long run sprawl is going to cause bigger problems - its a short term fix that means they dont have to spend money where its actually needed.

hi mike love your show i am a 40 yr old hard worker and i listen to your show all the time but my question to you is i am very encouraged to start a petition or protest for the workers of australia who are sick of the government spending our money so stupidly while we go broke my husband and i are on the brink of bankruptcy due to the excessive cost of living i was never a bitter person or a racist person my family is very multicultural but due to this crap that is happening so many of my family and friends are becoming racist and are so sick of this if australia keeps on this track we will be a third world country and we will be looking for a different country ourselves. you have a look at the crime rate that is now and you tell me the ratio of crime by australians opposed to immigrants you would be shocked. i am sorry if i sound over the top but to lose everything due to stupid government is not fair

Hi Greg:
I'm not usually moved to post comments in the public domain. I have recently been made redundant from my job of 22yrs and have been applying for jobs with no success, rarely even get a response from the business I'm applying to. I can see why young people get disillusioned with the whole process and give it up and go lie on a beach. If a business advertises for an employee and someone applies, that business should at the very least acknowledge the application and tell the applicant that they were not successful. And as for experience, how does one get the experience if the employers won't give you a start. If no one trains, there will come a time when you have no experienced workers. What do you do then. Bring employees in from overseas because there are no trained workers here.
I'll get off my soapbox now and go back to looking for a job.
