Greg,
Sarah and Janes story means so much to me, it was wonderful to hear your interview with Jane (great to hear some Aussie voices!)and I hope that the fund raising for Sarah goes well.
Sarah and and my daughter Holly are the lucky ones, they have dedicated family members to fight for them, my heart goes out to the many, many patients with brain injuries in acute care hospitals in Queensland who have limited access to rehabilitation and no one to fight for them.

Greg, I saw this story and I think that all this is so familiar , because it reminds me of what my daughter went through in June 2008 .
She has the same symptoms and she has GBS, the acute form, you don't think that this little girl has been miss diognosed by Qld Health.
Go to Guilliame Barre Syndrome and look at what it is,
My daughter was paralysed within 15 minutes, nearly died 3 times, and was in the ICU at Redcliffe for 4 months, is now at home, after m16 months in rehab and is still trying to recover, but Qld health have stopped physio because they think that she will not get any better, the GBS Assoc have their logo as saying "get better slowly"
She now has sourced a doctor that specialises in GBS from the Holy Spitit Hospital and tells her that the nerve ends are still trying to repair themselves, (GBS means that the nerve ends die and that they must renew .
It is a terrible thing to happen to any young girl and I feel sorry for Sarah, but she should look into GBS and not a stroke as it all looks like what my daughter has. Cheers Gregg. Anne 0421 332 231Anne Reid Tuesday 25 May, 2010 - 8:51 PM
