Rudd De Soleil
Contributing editor to The Australian, Professor Peter Van Onselen, joins Greg Cary to discuss how the government can go back on their word, regardless of how many promises have been made. Rudd’s recent reneging of the ETS scheme certainly isn’t the first time a prime minister has changed their mind.

I will continue to vote Labor, as I am proud of the way in which our international credability has risen under the leadership of the Federal Labor Government. We have spent our way out of recession. That is an undeniable fact. Working families are safer under a Labor government than a big business owned Federal Liberal Party. I am sure that Tony Abbott is a nice person, he seems to be he participates in his community like tens of thousands of other Australians do, but his ill considered jingoistic ideas have no place in a modern progressive Australia.
Do we have problems...yes we do a lot of them but the Liberals will and can not fix them.Labor Voter Wednesday 19 May, 2010 - 1:24 PM -
How can a PM/treasurer base something as important as Australia's budget on a tax that has not even been passed in parliament?? Is it so he can blame the opposition for not passing it so they look bad instead of him? He still blames the opposition for the ETS not getting through! The ETS did not get through because Mr Rudd did not put the effort into selling it to us. It's rather arrogant to expect us to vote for something just because Mr Rudd says it's the right thing to do.

Rudd was worshipping the mining industry while it was saving its behind during the recent downturn....now he wants to punish it and risk thousands of jobs, where is his wisdom???????? "opps I spent too much I'd better get some more money"

Aussies will pay less tax after reforms: PM
This is todays "feel good" promise from our PM.
The promise comes straight after interest rates go up, cigarette excise increases by 25% and house prices are set to soar.
Ask the smokers, Home Owners and Gen Y house buyers if they feel good.Mad as Hell Thursday 29 April, 2010 - 1:05 PM -
You idiot Onselen. Howard went to an election with the GST as a major policy!!!

This guy Rudderless is paper thin. He stands for nothing except his own popularity with the public. Spin Spin Spin. God help Australia if they get back in for another 3 years. If we think the best way out of a recession is to spend spend spend, how come it did not work for Greece. I cannot believe Aussies who are so down to earth and straight still hold him in such high regard. 115 BOATS, GROCERY WATCH, FUEL WATCH, DAY CARE CENTRES, 4 DEATHS INSULATION PROGRAM, SUSTAINABILITY ISSUES ETC. On an on. We are heading for trouble with this lot. WAKE UP AUSTRALIA BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.
