  • Met Mike at the Gabba press area with my old friend Greg Cary in the 80's after listening to him on BC feeding teachers to Yum Yum in the 60's. Just the best..
I was overawed to meet this man who was a major influence on my career and all I found was the most genuine wonderful human being who made everyone he met feel so at ease. What beautiful tributes from you all on this amazing person who will never be forgotten.

  • I was introduced to Mike in 1967 by Lance Broughton, who worked at 4bc. What a character he was. I am missing his England reports, taken over by Ender Brady. It was also sad for me to hear last year that John McCormack, General Manager of 4bc for many years, had also passed. I met Lance and Macca, who were original announcers on the old 4na, now Mix FM on the Sunshine Coast.

  • I was very saddened, indeed moved to tears, to recently discover the passing of Mike Ahern. Ilived in Guernsey, in the UK Channel Islands in the sixties, and I will always treasure many, many fond memories of "Your DJ Mike A" on Radio Caroline South from 9.00am and 12 midday between April 1966 and August 1967. Sadly and criminally passed over on British airwaves post M.O.A...but our loss was Australia's gain. We'll never hear the like of him or indeed, any of the stations again. A whole generation will never ever forget you, Mike, you were one of the best. R.I.P

  • Very sad to learn of Mikes death. Grew up listening to him on Caroline South and he was a part of my childhood. It was great to listen to him again this year on BBC Essex. He will be missed by many but left a lot of great memories. Thanks Mike.

    Robin.
