I was bitten on the toes by a couple of green ants this morning , while beside myself with pain I tried teatree oil, lavender oil, vinegar, toothpaste and my alovera plant. My hubby suggested I soak my foot in vinegar and hot water , while painful doing this . BINGO! the pain has now gone.

In the past through trial and error I discovered using hot water (ie as hot as can be tolerated)worked best for me for treating green ant stings. (Not the same green ants as in your picture).
(Interestingly, I also used hot water when I was envenomated by a sting ray barb earlier this year -hot water apparently breaks down and inactivates the protein in the venom).Ness Saturday 29 December, 2012 - 2:50 PM -
You have a picture of weaver ants on your article. Are you a little confused? Weavers are also called green ants and have a nasty bite but are from north qld and have formic acid not venom in their sting.
They also have nothing to do with the Australia wide green head ants which we all call 'green ants'. That is what your respondants obviously refer to.
Very clever 4BC.

My girlfriend got bitten by the pool within the 1st hour of our weekend away at the hunter valley.
We tried plenty of ice, rubbing Panadol on it and even windex with not much luck with the pain going away. We found the remedy but, drink a few glasses of red wine and continue drinking until the pain is numb. Hopefully by the time the alcohol wears off the pain is gone alsoRay Saturday 22 December, 2012 - 3:09 PM -
My fiancee was still in pain after a couple hours after being bitten on the foot by two green ants so i thought i'd look up whats the best cure and found this sight. I chose the WD40 as Peter suggested as he's from the same little village as us and i have a small can of WD40 under the sink. The WD40 worked a treat straight away. Instant pain relief. Woo hoo..Thank you Peter

Today I got stung by a green ant on the bottom of my foot while picking fruit off a tree, I was in severe pain for 4 hours and tried everything that was said to "reduce the pain". After trying everything above my mum thought of over ripe tomatoes, well it worked a treat and I suggest everyone tries the same. I have never been in so much pain for soo long and I was soo very grateful to have a relief instantly like I did.
