  • Glynis, well said since the 24th august the media focus has been lost on this but perhaps with the caretaker PM trying to change the government system to appease the demand of three independent representatives and to promise a 3year set term in a bid to get thier support I would think it is time for the Govenor General to intervene that is what she is there for but perhaps there is a conflict of interests in the way

  • I nominate Major General Philip Michael Jeffery, AC,CVO,MC to hold the interim delegate position.

To avoid a repeat or a perceived repeat of the Sir John Kerr / High Court Chief Justice Sir Garfield Barwick angst again, why not just ask the immediate past Governor General Philip Michael Jeffery to step into the role till this is all settled.

Yes he was appointed during the Howard Government, but I do believe that the process requires a joint sitting of parliament agreeing to the appointment.

Furthermore there was never any hint during the ensuing Labor Government of any disagreement, angst or tension even between the Government and the Governor General.

  • Of cause it is not ethical. If a member of a jury was the son in law of the judge -straight away mis trial - or he would have to excuse himself. But then again it is far from ethical for GG's son in law to stab Kevin Rudd in the back -- after Ruddy had placed Quentin as GG. Further it is not too ethical for Quentins daughter to break up Shortens marriage - but I suppose the married to a future PM would have obvious appeal for such un ethical people.
