Gillard is just hopeless...she speaks so slowly because she thinks we all need time to understand what she is saying....it is a "soap opera"

In 1940 the Minority Menzies Government was brought down, in a bloodless coup, if you like, by two independents crossing the floor, hence the Curtin Minority Government took office. The subsequent 1943 election resulted in a 58% Two Party Preferred result in favour of the Curtin led ALP.
Mr Graham PERRETT ~ MORETON, QLD won his seat in 2010 by 51.13 % of the Two Party Preferred. Sounds like a comfortable position, but coupled with the fact that that was a 12.12% drop in the Primary Vote and a 4.88% drop in the Two Party Preferred and Moreton was previously Liberal, he could well be a big loser in the next election. Take into consideration that of the 15.89% Primary Vote for the Australian Greens, the preference drifts would have been his salvation. I think he is in trouble. If the ALP do not keep kowtowing to the Australian Greens then Mr Perrett might not be able to rely on that Directed Preference Drift.
Maybe Mr. Perrett would like to consider the tenuous position he is in. He is after all only in his second term, and not entitled to a pension unless he serves eight years, or three terms. Hence Mr. Perrett would be a prime candidate for falling on his sword, he could gain hero status in Moreton, win the ensuing election and get a pension.
Maybe history will repeat itself, only this time, in respect to the political parties involved, in reverse.
Ms Gillard has to call an election by November 2013 inclusive of the allowed three months overdue.
That means another two years and three months of this, unheralded ALP Green Coalition Government, voted in on a lie, and supported in part by two Independents because of their own personal angst.

The Australian people everywhere you go are starting to have one retort and it is this - can you please get rid of them.
Whether it's the secretary at the doctor's surgery, the taxi driver, the lady behind the till, or the person standing next to you in the queue, they are no longer surprised by just how totally and utterly incompetent the government is.Richard Friday 19 August, 2011 - 3:37 PM -
