Expensive Education Revolution

Julia Gillard

The Deputy Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, has a few feathers in her cap, the My School website being one of them. Another recent program, Building the Education Revolution, doesn’t seem to be receiving as many gold stars. There seems to be a gap between state and private schools as to how their funding has been implemented. Michael Smith investigates.

  • I hope Julia Gillard ends up with a demotion like Peter Garrett for her ineptitude regarding the most expensive tuckshops on Planet Earth.

  • Children should go to the nearest school to their home.
    (Public or Private)
This would ease the morning and afternoon peak hour traffic chaos as Parents would not be driving their little darlings all over Brisbane.
Also I believe this would even up the distribution of Government allocated funds to the schools.
It would also stop labels being put on certain schools.
If someone wanted to go to a school outside a particular zone, they would have to pay a congestion tax for clogging the roads up at peak hours.

  • The My School website is not a feather in her cap it is a blight on Australian education. Rating schools in this way has caused huge problems overseas. Why won't she talk to the parents associations and teachers (via their unions)? From what I can see she is stubbornly sticking to a decision simply because she made it not because it is good for students, schools or teachers. Why not look at improvements which can be made? Why not look to education systems of best practice countries with populations similar to our own - NOT America and England!!
