Burqa uncovered
Yasmin Khan, president of Eidefest, joins Ian Maurice on 4BC Mornings, to further discuss the recent media foray in banning the wearing of the burqa. Yasmin Khan provides listeners with an insight of the history of the burqa and begs to find a happy-medium that can suit most people.

Ban the burqa and Outlaw Islam before its too late to hold back the wave of confrontation threatening the Australian Culture with a Way of Life that only deals in misery. If their Way of Life prevails over freedom all will be revealed and you will be SORRY you failed to act.

You can in no way compare the KKK outfit to the burqa. First of all a similar KKK dress is worn in Spain by priests for religious celebrations, itâÂÂs not the fact their faces are covered up its what the outfit represents. The KKK dress symbolizes white power, supremacy, murder, intolerance for other people who are different. The burqa does not represent these things.
And I also understand that in the Middle East some people wearing burqa's have hidden explosives in them and done some damage. However they have also hidden explosives in cars, backpacks and we arenâÂÂt banning those.
What crimes in this country have been committed by people wearing the traditional Muslim burqa?
One of the biggest arguments I have heard is that if Australians were to travel to the Middle East we would have to cover up to, so why shouldnâÂÂt they expose themselves over here. The answer to that is we have no laws in this country saying you cant do that and its not offensive to cover yourself up here.
Muslims have just as much right to live freely in this country as we do. If we are going to allow men to wear skinny jeans then we cant complain about anything else

Hoodies , Dark Glasses and Helmets are banned from a lot of places already, I beleive the outfit worn by the Klu Klux Klan is possibly banned from some places as well.
Yes there has been incidents of people committing crimes wearing the Burqa
No , I do not fear the Burqa,
This country is not built on embracing indifference and if it was , that would mean we would also have to respect the indifference of the KKK and the neo nazi's because they dress differently too.
While people wish to be different from the mainstream, they will always be treated different.
I have tolerance for all religions and races. (even the nuttier ones)Mad as H... Wednesday 12 May, 2010 - 11:26 AM -
People say they want to ban the burqa because it hides the identity of the person wearing if. Does that mean we should also ban people from wearing hoodies and dark glasses because their identity is just as well hidden in those? Have there been any incidents of people wearing burqaâÂÂs committing any crimes? No this is just a reaction from a community that is simply afraid of something they donâÂÂt understand. They need to have the tolerance to accept that people may choose to live their lives differently. This country is supposed to be about embracing difference.
The burqa in Muslim culture is a symbolism of modesty⦠see not all cultures get off on women exploiting themselves for the pleasure of men. Like for instance Zoo Magazine, letâÂÂs see you get up in arms about the women in that!
I am an Australian citizen with ancestry back to the convicts and I also have many Muslim friends they all love this country and want to live here peacefully. There are over a billion Muslims on the planet and they are not all violent or extremist. I really donâÂÂt want to see another Nazi Germany where an entire country turns on people just for their religious beliefs.
I believe Australians are a welcoming and friendly people and we should not let our fears of what we donâÂÂt understand justify prejudice.

@No Islam.
Yes. I do agree with your post my friend. But I agree with it purely on the basis that "some" muslims in this country is not possible. They do not allow infidels in their ranks and their cult requires the assassination of anyone who will not change to their ideals.
As for the burkha, and moreso since viewing Negus (Islams greatest supporter in our media, who can't bring himself to say Happy Christmas) and the muslim mouthpiece on Islamic TV last night, it's patently obvious that the burkha is multi-functional.
(a) identity fraud, and they don't care which sex is hiding behind it.
(b) husbands who want to hide their concubine's heads from the world for one reason or another, and
(c) The terrorism aspect.
And so No Islam. I conclude by saying that my opposition to Islam is based solely on the freedom that we owe our grandkids in this country, a country which has been founded on Christian beliefs.
Let those who wish to progress and advance the satanic rituals of the cult of Islam, do so somewhere else.

Muslim law is not flexible.
Muslim's are not flexible.
Most other races and religions are open to change not the Muslim's.
They seem to believe that different color blood runs through their veins which makes them superior to all other races and religions.
We have to be very tolerent of their culture while they seem to have contempt for other cultures and religions.
I believe this is why they receive little support from others.
They seem to enjoy their segregated lifestyle.Mad as H... Monday 10 May, 2010 - 11:09 AM
